Course Overview

The Workplace Health and Safety course provides a comprehensive introduction to occupational health and safety principles for employees across all sectors. This CPD-accredited online course covers the fundamental legal requirements under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and equips learners with the knowledge needed to contribute to a safe working environment.

Every employer in Ireland has a legal duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety, health, and welfare of their employees. Equally, employees have responsibilities to take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others. This course explains these mutual obligations and provides practical guidance on how to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement controls.

The course is fully online and can be completed at your own pace. Upon achieving the minimum pass mark of 70%, a CPD-accredited certificate is issued immediately.

About This Course

The Workplace Health and Safety course is designed to give all employees a solid foundation in workplace safety principles. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 places clear duties on employers to provide a safe place of work, safe systems of work, and adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision. Employees are also required to cooperate with their employer and to report any hazards or defects they become aware of.

Accident reporting procedures, emergency planning, first aid arrangements, and the role of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) as the national enforcement body are all covered. The course ensures that learners understand the potential consequences of non-compliance, including enforcement actions, improvement notices, and prosecution.
