Animate handling — the moving and handling of people — presents unique challenges compared to handling inanimate objects. People are unpredictable, may resist movement, and have their own dignity and comfort to consider. This course addresses the specific risks and techniques involved in people handling, including the use of hoists, slide sheets, and other patient handling aids, whilst also covering standard manual handling principles for inanimate loads.
