About This Course
The Working at Height Course provides comprehensive awareness training on the risks associated with working at height and the precautions that must be taken to prevent falls. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, employers must ensure that work at height is properly planned, appropriately supervised, and carried out in a safe manner using suitable equipment.
The course covers the hierarchy of controls for work at height, starting with avoiding work at height where possible, through to using work equipment to prevent falls (such as guardrails and platforms), and finally using equipment to minimise the consequences of a fall (such as safety nets and harnesses). Learners will understand how to select and inspect ladders, stepladders, scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms.
Risk assessment procedures specific to work at height are explained, including identifying fragile surfaces, assessing weather conditions, ensuring adequate edge protection, and establishing rescue procedures. The course also addresses the importance of competence, training, and ongoing equipment maintenance to ensure that all work at height activities are carried out safely.
