Course Overview

The Disciplinary Procedures course provides essential training in the proper management of workplace disciplinary matters. Under the Industrial Relations Act 1990 (Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures) (Declaration) Order 2000 (S.I. No. 146 of 2000), employers are expected to have fair and transparent disciplinary procedures in place. This course explains the principles of natural justice and fair procedures that must be observed throughout any disciplinary process.

The course is fully online and can be completed at your own pace. Upon achieving the minimum pass mark of 70%, a CPD-accredited certificate is issued immediately.

The course also covers the distinction between misconduct and gross misconduct, the appropriate use of suspension, and the importance of maintaining detailed records throughout the disciplinary process.

The role of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) and the Labour Court in adjudicating on unfair dismissal claims is also explained, providing learners with a clear understanding of the potential consequences of procedural failures.
