Assessment appeals
A learner who wishes to challenge an assessment decision should identify the decision, explain the grounds for the appeal and state the outcome sought. An appeal concerns a decision or assessment process; a complaint may concern the wider service, conduct or learner experience.
What to include
- Name and contact email.
- Course or programme, assessment and relevant reference.
- The decision being challenged and the date it was communicated.
- The reasons for the appeal and the relevant evidence available.
- The outcome or review being requested.
Send the initial request
Email info@phoenixsts.ie. Use any appeal instructions and deadline issued for the particular course. If those instructions are missing or unclear, contact Phoenix STS promptly. Check the applicable appeal deadline and any fee in the course instructions.
Describe the evidence initially rather than uploading identity documents, health records or confidential information about other people. Phoenix STS can discuss an appropriate method for supplying necessary evidence.
Review and outcome
The appeal should be reviewed impartially, with the relevant evidence and grounds considered. Where an Appeals Committee is required by the applicable procedure, that route applies. The decision, rationale, outcome and communication should be recorded.
Submitting an appeal does not itself change a result, approve certification or suspend a course deadline. Ask about the applicable arrangements where a deadline or pending award is affected.
