Prevent Duty Online Course
Course Overview
The Prevent Duty is a legal obligation placed upon specified authorities, including schools, healthcare providers, and local authorities, to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. Originating from the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, this duty requires organisations to identify individuals who may be vulnerable to radicalisation and to take appropriate action to safeguard them.
This CPD-accredited online course provides a thorough understanding of the Prevent Duty, including the legal requirements, the signs of radicalisation, and the referral process. Learners will develop the skills and confidence to fulfil their responsibilities under Prevent and contribute to safeguarding their communities.

About This Course
Radicalisation can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or background. It is a process by which individuals come to support terrorism or violent extremism, and in some cases, participate in terrorist activities. The Prevent strategy aims to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism, and it forms one of the four strands of the government's counter-terrorism strategy known as CONTEST.
This course provides learners with a detailed understanding of the Prevent strategy, the Channel programme for supporting vulnerable individuals, and the indicators that may suggest a person is being radicalised. It covers the different forms of extremism, including far-right extremism, Islamist extremism, and other ideologically motivated threats, helping learners to recognise vulnerability regardless of the ideology involved.
The course also explains the referral process, including how to raise concerns, who to contact, and what happens after a referral is made. Learners will understand their responsibilities within a multi-agency framework and how to balance safeguarding duties with respect for individual rights and freedoms. By the end of this course, you will be equipped to identify and respond to the signs of radicalisation within your professional context.
Who Is This Course For?
