Additional Information

It is a legal requirement that anyone who may come into contact with asbestos in their day to day work has been provided with asbestos awareness training. Workers and supervisors must be able to recognise asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and know what to do if they come across them to protect themselves and others. In addition, any business or organisation that allows builders or maintenance personnel onto their premises should ensure that they have evidence of asbestos awareness training.

Anyone who could potentially disturb asbestos during their normal work, or who supervises those employees, should have the correct level of information, instruction and training so that they can work safely and competently without risking themselves or others around them.

This Asbestos Awareness Course looks at the properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of developing lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke. We examine the types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and asbestos materials in buildings and plant. We also cover the general procedures to deal with an emergency, such as an uncontrolled release of asbestos dust into the workplace. Employers and Employees legal duties and general asbestos legislation are also examined within this course.

This course is designed for anyone who could potentially come into contact with asbestos, not just trade workers such as Electricians, Plumbers, Joiners, Painters and decorators, Plasterers and Construction workers for example, but also Telecommunication engineers, Fire/burglar alarm installers, Computer and data installers.
