Irish Legislative Context

UK Legislation Covered: UK Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (Food Standards Agency - England, Wales, Northern Ireland)

Irish Equivalent: Ireland does not operate the UK Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. In Ireland, food safety is regulated by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) under the FSAI Act 1998 and EU food hygiene regulations (EC 852/2004). The FSAI conducts inspections and publishes enforcement orders. Irish food businesses should aim for full FSAI compliance rather than a UK food hygiene rating.

Phoenix STS delivers training under both Irish and UK regulatory frameworks. If you require guidance on which legislation applies to your organisation, contact us on 043 334 9611.
